Numbers in German may not be as tricky as the old German handwriting, but they do look slightly different than our English numbers – which can be enough to trip us up from time to time. Remember:Â
- 1’s can be dotted, like the letter i.Â
- 1’s usually have a little flag to the left (if not dotted).
- 7’s can be crossed in the middle.Â
- 2’s may or may not have a loop at the bottom left corner.Â
- 9’s may be looped at the bottom or go below the line of writing.Â
